Questions, answered.

Can I use the gloves with SteamVR games?

Yes. The gloves map gestures to Valve Index controller inputs, so you can use them in compatible SteamVR games. A virtual joystick and optional haptics let you tailor the setup to each game.

Can I use the gloves for VRChat or VTubing?

Yes. 32 embedded stretch sensors track your finger bends, so you can wave, point and gesture in VRChat. For VTubing, the gloves send hand data over VMC to avatar apps such as Warudo, and can stream to SteamVR at the same time.

What software do I need?

The XR Game Companion app, which you can download from the QR code in the box. It’s where you pair the gloves, train your own hand-tracking model or calibrate a ready-made one, record gestures, and send hand data to SteamVR or OpenXR, plus VMC.

How do the gloves connect to my PC?

Over Bluetooth 5.0 or newer, through the companion app. Most PCs have Bluetooth built in, so there’s no dongle to plug in. If yours doesn’t, add a Bluetooth 5.0 USB adapter. Wireless range is up to 5m.

Can I map gestures to game controls?

Yes. Record any hand gesture in the companion app and assign it to any Valve Index controller input. For example, a fist for grip and trigger, or a finger gun for grip.

How do I move around in games?

With the virtual joystick, which has two modes. D-pad mode is the quickest to set up and the one we recommend to start with: calibrate a gesture for forward and one for back (we suggest using your thumb), then look where you want to go. Scalar joystick mode gives finer control for games that need it, but takes longer to calibrate, so it’s best for experienced users.

Do I need trackers?

Yes, to track where your hands are. The gloves track your fingers and thumbs and emulate Valve Index controllers, but they don’t track hand position in space. Each glove comes with a tracker mount that fits Tundra Trackers, HTC Vive 3.0 Trackers and PICO Motion Trackers.

What size should I get?

Better tight than loose. A snug fit keeps the stretch sensors moving with your fingers, which gives better finger tracking. A loose glove can slip, and the gloves stretch a little with use. See the size guide.

Are import duties and taxes included?

No. Prices exclude local taxes, customs duties and tariffs, which the recipient pays. The gloves are made in China and classed as game controllers (HTS code 8471.49.00). At the time of writing, that means a 20% import tax into the US. You can estimate charges for your country with the SimplyDuty import duty calculator. Orders from stretchsense.jp include local taxes.

When will my order ship?

Shipping options and availability for your country are shown at checkout. If you have a question about your order, email support@stretchsense.com.

How do I wash the gloves?

Remove the StretchSense pucks, put the gloves in the wash bag provided, and wash them on a cold gentle or delicates cycle. Line dry away from direct sunlight. Don’t tumble dry, wring or iron them, and make sure the gloves are completely dry before you reattach the pucks.
